it’s a mixture of light brown and gray watercolor mixed high-concentrate in water and left to dry at the bottom of a bowl
then you pour day-old coffee on it
it produces a consistent wash intensity with ease of blending, but with VERY SUBTLE color changes from gray to pale-brown depending on where you put your brush
